Gonzalo Garcia-Pelayo

Gonzalo Garcia-Pelayo, a master of the game of Roulette, was born on 25th June 1947 in Madrid, Spain. Studying at The Official Film school, he had a passion for film and music. Unfortunately, the school closed before he could graduate.

A job opportunity was offered at Spanish National Radio to work on music programs.

His credits include albums by Smash, Triana, Maria Jimenez, Alameda, and others. Despite his efforts, he could never sign up the big names and struggled to make ends meet.

A career as a gambler

To support his family, he turned to gambling as a means of raising money. His favourite game of choice was Roulette, and he noticed that specific numbers came up more often than others.

Consequently, he knew that finding the numbers that came up frequently would give him the advantage. In addition, he observed that there was a slight inaccuracy with the pocket sizes and roulette wheel balance.

Analyzing the Roulette Wheel

At Casino Gran Madrid, Gonzalo studied and analyzed the roulette wheel for many months to win. He concentrated on watching and learning during this period, calculating his results in a computer program.

Similarly, he enlisted his kids Ivan and Vanessa for various casino visits in Madrid.

Roulette playing

After Gonzalo had sufficient information, he and his children started playing Roulette for real money, and within a year, they had won $700,000.

Some casinos eventually banned the Pelayo family from playing, and one casino even filed a lawsuit against them, but the court ruled in their favour.

The family eventually left Spain for Las Vegas, where they won over $2 million between them before the casinos banned them.

Gonzalo-Pelayo: Where is he now?

Using statistical data and laws of probability, Gonzalo and his children have retired from playing Roulette and now bet on sports and play poker.

John Montagu

John Montagu was born in Cheswick in November 1718 and lost his father at the early age of 4. His mother got remarried, leaving him to be raised by his Grandmother. As an escape from his stressful duties, he turned to gambling for comfort.

John Montagu is remembered for being a passionate gambler and interestingly was also remembered for inventing the sandwich. Due to him being a fervent gambler, he thought up food of convenience that would sustain him throughout long gambling games and be mobile enough to cater to his needs without any inconvenience.

He accomplished many great things as the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Thus, people rarely noticed his addiction to gambling in the game of Euchre. As the 4th Earl of Sandwich, he negotiated treaties, sponsored a voyage through the Pacific and served as a regiment captain.

The Impact of Gambling on John Montagu’s Life

Montagu first started gambling when in College. He was encouraged by his friends to join them at Horse Races, and when it came to this form of gambling, Montagu was too cautious, and he eventually stopped betting on horses and started focusing on card games. He spent countless hour’s playing cards, and his longest stint lasted 24 hours.

Montagu enjoyed convenience when eating during card games and would request pieces of meat between two slices of bread as he could hold the “sandwich “in one hand while holding cards in the other. Hence the birth of the sandwich because those who played against him started asking for “the same as sandwich.”

However, Montagu lost thousands of pounds playing cards and did enjoy a winning streak that paid for Captain Cook’s voyage through the Pacific Ocean. This voyage led to the discovery of Australia and the small islands he named The Sandwich Islands. Those Islands are today known as Hawaii.

Montagu passed away in April 1792, a broke man due to his gambling habits.

Diamonds of the Realm Slot by Play n Go

A 5-reel, 20-payline slot from Play’n Go, Diamonds of the Realm is the 3rd slot in the Arthurian series. Randomly triggered multipliers up to 100x will boost winnings. In the bonus round, you begin with a 2x multiplier and collect scatters to win extra spins and increase it to x100.

Slot Features

The wild symbol can appear on any one of the reels, and it substitutes for all symbols in the game, to help you make winning combinations. Wilds are also worth the same as the top-tier King Arthur symbol, which awards 100x your stake for five on a line. You’ll see a circle of multipliers above the reels, and the Multiplier feature may appear at any time in the base game.

The bonus round triggers when at least three diamond scatters land anywhere on the same spin, and this awards five free spins with a starting multiplier of 2x. Diamond scatters in the meter above the reels trigger the bonus round, which provides extra spins and multipliers based on three tiers:

Level 2 (6 diamonds collected) – awards +5 extra spins and a 5x multiplier.

Level 3 (12 diamonds collected) – awards +5 extra spins and a 10x multiplier.

Level 4 (18 diamonds collected) – awards +5 extra spins and a 100x multiplier.

As soon as you reach level 4, no more diamond scatters will appear.

Play’n Go has completed the King Arthur trilogy with this third instalment. In Diamonds of the Realm, you get a random multiplier up to 100x.

The 100x multiplier is not often seen in the base game or the bonus round. However, if it appears, it can damage the player to the tune of 10,000x per spin, and 20,000x is the maximum win potential in the bonus round.
